Goetz Receives NAC Honor
(3/25/08) -- Pitcher Jessica Goetz (So., Milwaukee, WI / Martin Luther) made the first day of the 2008 Alverno College women's softball season a memorable one. In a 3-1 win over University of Massachusetts (UMASS)-Dartmouth, Goetz pitched the first no-hitter in Inferno history. And now, that performace has earned her the distinction of co-"Student-Athlete-of-the-Week" in the Northern Athletics Conference. She shares the honor with Jennifer Stephens from Edgewood College. |

Due to a shoulder injury, Goetz only toed the rubber twice in 2007. With a full off-season of hard work under her belt, she seemingly already has proven that the shoulder is fully healed and ready to bear the load of a full season.
Goetz becomes the fourth Alverno athlete to be named NAC Student-Athlete-of-the-Week this school year. In fall, Ellie LaFond (Fr., Waukesha, WI / Waukesha West) and Sarah Olson (Fr., Oconomowoc, WI / Oconomowoc) earned the distinction for soccer and cross country respectively. During the winter season, Bre Miller (Jr., Racine, WI / Racine Horlick) was awarded the honor in basketball for the week of January 28-February 4.
