Inferno Leave FL on High Note

Brianne Porter        Andrea Spindler        Lea Colon

Union College 8, Alverno 0  (5 innings)

This year's trip to Florida has taken on "feast or famine" qualities for the Alverno College women's softball team.  After not committing any errors yesterday, the Inferno defense had 5 miscues against Union College.  Union was able to break open a 1-0 game with seven runs in the bottom of the 4th inning thanks in part to three errors, three passed balls, and five hits in the frame.

On offense, the Inferno have been just as up and down.  While they have scored 12, 8, and 7 runs in games during the trip, they have also been shut out three times.  Against Union, Alverno was able to scratch out only one hit, a fifth inning single by 2B Brianne Porter (Fr., Oak Creek, WI / Oak Creek)Box Score

Alverno 9, Oberlin 4

The Inferno regrouped from the loss to Union by winning their last game in Florida, 8-4 over Oberlin College.  Leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Alverno put together a 4-hit, 4-run rally aided by two Oberlin errors.  The frame was highlighted by SS Lea Colon's (Sr., Antioch, IL / Kenosha Bradford) two-run single that plated Melissa Bankenbush (Fr., Franksville, WI / Union Grove) and Megan Burgess (Fr., Racine, WI / Racine Park)

Andrea Spindler (Jr., Greendale, WI / Greendale) went 2-4 with 3 RBI to pace the Inferno offense while Porter notched her 2nd win of the season by tossing a complete game six-hitter.  She walked three and struck out five. Box Score
