Alverno Falls to Division II Foe

Ambrial Miller
(12/17/07) -- The Alverno College basketball team (2-8, 0-6 NAC) showed why there is often more to a game than the box score on Monday night. Lost in a 74-40 defeat at the hands of NCAA Division II opponent UW-Parkside was the fact that the Inferno at times played their best/most physical defense of the season. Because of that, the Inferno was able to hang with the bigger, stronger opponent for almost a half.
The Inferno had the ball with a chance to cut their deficit to single digits with less than 90 seconds remaining in the first half. However, a turnover and quick 5-0 run by the Rangers put them up by 16 at the intermission and for all intents and purposes, ended Alverno's bid for an upset.
Ambrial Miller (Jr., Racine, WI / Racine Horlick High School) playing in her own backyard and in front of friends and family, led the team with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Alverno finishes up a stretch of three games in four days tomorrow night when they travel to Manitowoc, WI, to take on Silver Lake College in a non-conference tilt.
