
Alverno Notches 1st Ever NAC Win, 73-51

(2/2/2008) – The Alverno College women’s basketball team wrapped up a four-game home stand on a historic note with a 73-51 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). The win marks the first ever victory for Alverno in a Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) game.
Alverno (5-14, 1-11 NAC) took a 30-21 lead into halftime, but then blew the game open in the 2nd half, going on a 13-3 run out of the gates. They led the entire game, posting their biggest advantage, 51-28, thanks to back-to-back three point baskets by Katie Huse (Jr., Milwaukee, WI / Grace Christian High School) and Bre Miller (Jr., Racine, WI / Horlick). The Inferno finished the 2nd stanza shooting a sizzling 68% (17-25) from the floor. MSOE (1-19, 1-12 NAC) did not find the Reiman Gym rims to be as friendly, shooting 29.4% (5-17) from the free throw line in the contest.
| Miller led all scorers with 27 points on 10-17 shooting. She also pulleddown 13 rebounds. Both numbers are career highs. Lisa Sorgi (So., Milwaukee, WI / Greenfield) and Joslyn Binkowski (Jr., Greenfield, WI / Greenfield) helped Alverno’s cause with 14 and 10 points respectively. |

Alverno will continue Northern AthleticsConference play on Tuesday, February 5, when they travel to Aurora (IL) University. The Inferno fell to Aurora, 74-57, back on December 5th in a game played at Alverno College. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
