Alverno Notches 1st Ever NAC Win, 73-51 (2/2/2008) – The Alverno College women’s basketball team wrapped up a four-game home stand on a historic note with a 73-51 win over Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). The win marks the first ever victory for Alverno in a Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) game.
Alverno (5-14, 1-11 NAC) took a 30-21 lead into halftime, but then blew the game open in the 2nd half, going on a 13-3 run out of the gates. They led the entire game, posting their biggest advantage, 51-28, thanks to back-to-back three point baskets by Katie Huse (Jr., Milwaukee, WI / Grace Christian High School) and Bre Miller (Jr., Racine, WI / Horlick). The Inferno finished the 2nd stanza shooting a sizzling 68% (17-25) from the floor. MSOE (1-19, 1-12 NAC) did not find the Reiman Gym rims to be as friendly, shooting 29.4% (5-17) from the free throw line in the contest.
Alverno will continue Northern AthleticsConference play on Tuesday, February 5, when they travel to Aurora (IL) University. The Inferno fell to Aurora, 74-57, back on December 5th in a game played at Alverno College. Game time is set for 7:00pm. |
