Inferno Fight Back, But Fall to Bethany Lutheran; 85-73
Bre Miller Lisa Sorgi Ashley Dettman
The Bethany Lutheran College women’s basketball team had five players score in double figures Sunday afternoon en route to an 85-73 victory over host Alverno College. The Vikings are 2-0 on the season. They won their opener in Milwaukee on Saturday, knocking off North Central (MN) University, 90-64.
Rebounding turned out to be the Achilles heel for Alverno, who move to 1-1 on the season. Bethany outrebounded the Inferno, 54-33. 24 of Vikings’ boards came on the offensive side of the court. The Inferno battled back to outscore Bethany 47-34 in the 2nd half, but never got closer than 12 down the stretch.
Offensively, the Inferno had four of their own players in double figures led by Ambrial Miller (Jr., Racine, WI) with 16. Buoyed by 7-8 free throw shooting, Lisa Sorgi (So., Milwaukee, WI) contributed 13 points and also pulled down 6 boards. Ashley Dettman (Fr., Milwaukee, WI) and Tressie Okrasinski (Jr., Colgate, WI) each scored 12.
