'07-'08 Inferno Take Court at Al McGuire Center

Marquette Basketball Coach Terri Mitchell Takes Inferno Players Katie Huse (top), Lisa Sorgi (22), and Ashley Dettman (10) through a drill.

The Alverno College Inferno Women's Basketball team took a break from preparing for the upcoming season on Saturday, November 3rd, to help out Big East Coach of the Year Terri Mitchell during her Marquette University Coaches' Clinic.

During the event, the Marquette Women's Basketball coaching staff took high school coaches from Wisconsin and the midwest through the drills, philosophies, and conditioning they have used to build the success that the Golden Eagles' program has achieved under Mitchell.

The clinic began with Alverno having an opportunity to watch the Marquette players run through pre-practice conditioning and practice drills. Midway through the clinic, the Golden Eagle players needed to begin preparing for their exhibition contest against Concordia (MN) University later that afternoon.  That's when the Inferno took to the court for the final two hours, demonstrating drills at the direction of Coach Mitchell and her assistants.

"It was a great opportunity for us to work with one of the best coaches in the country," said Alverno sophomore Katie Salentine.  "All of the coaches were very positive and their teaching style was easy to understand.  It was also really cool that we got to play where the great players and teams from the Big East get to play."

Inferno players got a chance to demonstrate drills at the Al McGuire Center during a Marquette Women's Basketball Coaches Clinic run by Golden Eagles' head coach Terri Mitchell and her staff.
