Inferno Drop Conference Opener
Lisa Sorgi (22) Tressie Okrasinski (34) When Brad Duckworth took over as coach of the Alverno College women's basketball team, he knew the road towards respectability in the Northern Athletics Conference would be a long and winding one. Tuesday night, the Inferno found out that road also has potholes. Concordia University (WI) showed why they are the defending conference champions with a convincing 84-34 victory at home over Alverno. The Falcons (2-3, 1-1 NAC), jumped out to a 9-0 lead to begin the game. After a timeout, Alverno returned the favor, going on a 8-2 run of their own to pull within 11-8. However, a Concordia 18-6 run to finish the first half gave the Falcons a 36-18 edge going into the locker room. Alverno (2-2, 0-1 NAC) was led in scoring by Lisa Sorgi (So., Milwaukee, WI/Greenfield) who had 9 points. Sorgi also pulled down 6 rebounds.
