The rims at Reiman Gymnasium were not friendly for the home team on Wednesday night. The Alverno women’s basketball team shot 29% from the floor in the first half of their Northern Athletics Conference game against Aurora University. Conversely, Aurora shot a sizzling 63% in the half leading to a 44-23 halftime advantage. The Spartans went on to win the game, 74-57.
Aurora (3-4, 2-0 NAC) was outshot by Alverno in the pivotal first half (34-30), but connected 9 more times (19-10). For the game, the Spartans had three players score in double figures, led by 6’0 freshman Michelle Perry who had 13.
Alverno (2-5, 0-4 NAC) was led by Lisa Sorgi (So., Milwaukee, WI / Greenfield). Sorgi scored 17 points in the second half en route to a 24 point, 10 rebound performance.
Alverno will welcome Concordia University-Chicago to Reiman Gym for their next Northern Athletics Conference game set for this Saturday, December 8th. Tip Time is set for 2:00PM.
