Alverno College Athletic Director Brad Duckworth displays the Northern Athletics Conference Sportsmanship Award. |
(5/20/08) -- While there have been a great deal of changes in the Alverno College athletics program since its inception eight years ago, one thing has remained constant: Of the four seasons that Inferno athletics have been in an NCAA Division III conference (2004-2006 Lake Michigan Conference and 2006-present in the Northern Athletics Conference) they have won the conference Women's Sportsmanship Award. For a second consecutive season the Inferno athletic program will share the award with Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
"Winning this award for a fourth consecutive year is proof that you can improve the quality of a program without having to sacrifice values such as integrity, aggressiveness, and desire," said Alverno Athletic Director Brad Duckworth. The award is given to the institution that
models commendable actions, including respect, fairness, graciousness, and spirit, both in and out of competition. The NAC currently consists of 13 schools NAC (3rd largest conference in NCAA Division III) and sponsors 18 sports.
