The recipient of this award demonstrates strong leadership ability in her/his profession/career or in service to the college and/or community. She/he exhibits integrity, enthusiasm, professionalism, and strongly held values in the significant accomplishments made in one or more of the following areas:

  • Professional/career accomplishments
  • Service to our alma mater - as an assessor, classroom presenter, alum mentor, recruiter, etc.
  • Service to one’s community - church, civic, neighborhood, volunteer, school, etc.

    We selected Dr. Sirri A. Nomo-Ongolo '67 for this award because of her lifelong commitment to healthcare within communities that are often forgotten, both here and in Cameroon, and for her leadership, integrity, enthusiasm, and professionalism: true traits of an Alverno alumna.

The recipient of this award demonstrates enthusiasm, dedication, and an esprit d’corps in service and support of the college. She/he exhibits the spirit of our alma mater in accomplishment of one or more of the following:

  • Provided outstanding service to our alma mater
  • Implemented a new and innovative service to the college
  • Recruited the participation of other alumnae in support of the college

    We selected Susan T. Witkowski '66 for this award because of her long and engaging commitment to Alverno students and staff, both as a staff member and as an alumna.

    We selected Patricia Padjen McNulty '73 for this award for her long and distinguished career as a nurse, educator and administrator.

Service to the Community Award

The recipient of this award has demonstrated the importance of effective citizenship — a core ability taught at Alverno — in the significant contributions he/she has made to the community. This award recognizes her/his accomplishments of one or more of the following:

  • Provided outstanding service to the community — church, civic, neighborhood, volunteer, school, etc.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability by directing a significant project in the community.

    We selected Kathleen (McCrady) Simonse '68 for this award because of the significant work she has done with the Passionist's Volunteer program, providing music education for students who would otherwise not have this opportunity, and her many other volunteer activities.
