Urban Education Fellows Program

The Urban Education Fellows Program (UEFP) is a joint graduate teacher licensure program of Alverno College and Mount Mary College. It is designed to improve the quality of education in independent private, parochial or charter schools in the greater Milwaukee area. Women and men who desire to teach in this setting in grades
1 - 8 are encouraged to apply. The UEFP requires a two-year commitment to work in a school, learning on the job with a coach, and successful completion of college course work.

Funding for the UEFP is provided by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the Trinity Foundation Fund.

The program's mission is to assist participants as they become new teachers and to help them prepare their credentials for licensure. Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree, but it needn't be in education.

Requirements: Once accepted into the program, participants will be matched for a salaried teaching position at a Milwaukee independent private, parochial or charter school. Program classes begin in June and teaching positions begin in the fall.

This rigorous program consists of a series of accelerated courses and other professional development opportunities. The two-year program (seven semesters) will lead to teaching certification (grades 1 - 8) and a master of arts degree in education from either Alverno College or Mount Mary College.

To ensure your success, coaching and mentoring will be part of the program, along with sharing among program participants. Generous financial assistance makes the program affordable. Classes are scheduled in a convenient format that works around your schedule and responsibilities.

If you are committed to improving the quality of education for children in Milwaukee's independent private, parochial or charter schools, this program is for you!

    * Demonstrate a level of professionalism consistent with the Fellows philosophy
