Though studying abroad may indeed be a dream come true for your college experience, cost may seem like a deterrent. However, it does help to have some financial support along the way.
Depending on the location and choice of program, the cost for a semester of study abroad can be about the same as a semester studying at Alverno.
With the agreements that Alverno offers through our international exchange universities, the International and Intercultural Center provides information on many scholarship opportunities to assist students financially for their study abroad journey. Some scholarships are even offered through Alverno College. For more information and recommended scholarships, see how You Can Afford Study Abroad (pdf). An extended list of scholarships is also available, Outbound Study Abroad Scholarships (pdf). Deadlines are provided for scholarships that maintain the same dates from year to year. Websites are provided as well for more information.
A travelship is financial assistance given to supplement a student’s own contribution for travel costs and fees. The travelship is offered by Alverno College and meant to be paid back through service to the college. travelships are awarded twice each academic year, once in the spring semester and once in the fall. Travelships may be used for study abroad, course required travel, independent international study or professional conferences/seminars. For information on how to apply for travelships, see our Travelship Brochure (pdf).
