Religious
Studies
Students In religious studies explore spirituality,
investigate the world views of others and formulate a personal theology
using the insights of your faith tradition. A religious studies major
prepares you for careers in the field of religion. Taken as a support
area, religious studies will enhance your education in another chosen
major. Religious studies helps you engage important questions in a
meaningful way. What does it mean to be a spiritual person? What is
the nature of the universe in which you live and how does this knowledge
help you to be a responsible contributing member of a community? What
is the nature of the sacred and the divine reality in life?
Through analysis of contemporary faith questions and scriptural interpretation,
specialization in religious studies prepares you to access personal
value and belief systems. As a student in religious studies, you search
for an understanding of the nature of religious experience in relation
to other human experiences, and apply the data of theology and relevant
scientific and humanistic disciplines in addressing contemporary issues.
