Psychology
Psychology is the study of behavior and mental
processes. At Alverno, we use an experimental approach in the study
of psychology, because first-hand experience helps you to develop
the kind of understanding that characterizes the competent professional
in psychology.
If you major in psychology, you can choose courses
and projects that prepare you for careers in a variety of areas.
Alverno psychology graduates become leaders in:
- governmental and nongovernmental human services
organizations
- nonprofit community advocacy
- business and industry settings
- graduate school in psychology, both in clinical
and research specialization
- other professional graduate training, such as
law, education and social work.
Whatever your career plans, you will find that your
work in psychology helps you to develop three key abilities:
- to think analytically
- to solve problems
- to interact effectively
