English Language
Arts
The English language arts major is designed
to heighten your ability to discover meaning from a variety of literary
works and genres. In addition to studying American, British and
world literature, as an English language arts major you have the
opportunity to take course in film, creative writing and journalism.
The English language arts major combines the traditional
English major with an emphasis on teaching literature and language.
Required courses in this major prepare you to teach Shakespeare;
American, British and world literature; writing and grammar; journalism;
and speech. Taken with a minor in early adolescence/adolescence
education, this program prepares and certifies you to teach literature,
writing, speech, journalist and language arts in both middle school
and high school.
