Creative
Arts
The Creative Arts minor is open to students
of all academic majors. It is designed for students who want to
study the arts, but not with the focus of a single art form or a
major area of study.
The program assists students in developing communication
and other skills that can be useful to their major area of study.
For example, Professional Communication students will find opportunities
to develop creative organization and expression skills. Nursing
majors can use the arts curriculum to expand their abilities to
respond efficiently and intuitively to a variety of situations.
Students in the Creative Arts program learn about
the arts and from them. Although their content is arts-related,
these courses are designed to help students to become more effective
communicators and problem solvers, both independently and collaboratively.
If you choose Creative Arts as a minor, you will
have the opportunity to engage the technology of the arts to further
your personality, creative or career goals. For example, in the
computer graphics course, you would explore many of the principles
used in desktop publishing, while in the sound design course, you
would learn how to make "soundscapes" using electronic
music equipment.
