Philosophy Major

With a major, double major, or support area in philosophy, you will be able to:

• Consider ethical and theoretical questions related to your studies in other courses
• Prepare for graduate work in philosophy or another discipline by analyzing and applying theories
• Think more critically about your own personal and professional values and assumptions
• Use sophisticated communications and people skills in any career you choose.

Whatever your career goals, the study of philosophy will help you to be a more thoughtful and insightful professional.  Philosophy majors and double majors engage in internships across a wide range of fields.  Recent internships have included working in an urban gardening program, doing marketing for a business communications start-up, assisting young people and their families in a social service agency, and helping in fund raising efforts for a food pantry.
