A major in Studio Art
A Studio Art degree at Alverno is truly different. Studio Art majors need and will receive the media skills and historic knowledge offered in traditional settings. But they also need to understand the process of creativity in their own work and in the works of others. Studio Art majors work across disciplines developing abilities to communicate effectively in various contexts, collaborate with other professionals, and creatively envision how their art can serve, impact and contribute to the community, culture and quality of life.
In your major courses, you will work with other students in the areas of Art Education and Art Therapy. The Studio Art courses are designed to assist students in making art from the perspectives of their future careers. You will not only learn about studio art, but how educators and therapists have different creative concerns.
Collaboration and socially interactive learning are at the core of all of your studio art learning. You will work with visiting artists, community groups and other students in Art Education and Art Therapy. The studio courses are designed to assist students in making art from the perspectives of their careers. Thus you will gain valuable studio art skills as well as explore the creative concerns of how and why communities, educators and therapists mold art for differing creative concerns.
